Same horse Petite Voix, same rider Michael Rodd, same distance 1000m, same starting price $13, same saddle cloth number five, same winning margin 2.3Lengths gave everyone a feeling of deja vu as Petite Voix repeated her winning effort from the 29th June in a $45,000 Class 4 at the Singapore Turf Club.
Petite Voix started from barrier two and missed the start ever so slightly but quickly got into stride and after a hundred metres Michael Rodd had the mare nicely positioned behind the leading pair of Natural Impulse and
Alaranch. The two leaders set a good pace, covering the first 400m in 24.30 seconds but Petite Voix was not under any pressure as she tracked the leader Natural Impulse. Rounding the turn into the home straight, Natural Impulse ran wide which allowed Michael Rodd to take an inside run along the fence. Petite Voix quickly accelerated and by the 300 metre mark had put the race beyond doubt. Michael Rodd eased the mare up in the last 50 metres and she won by 2.3 lengths in a time of 59.67 seconds.
The win capped of a great weekend for Michael Rodd who rode six winners across the two days of racing. The win gave trainer Lee Freedman a double on the day and took his tally to 34 winners for the year equal with Shane Baertschiger at the top of the trainer's premiership.
Petite Voix with two dominant wins in a row now finds herself well into Class 3 after being heavily penalized 13 points in the Central Rating System to a career high 64 rating points. In four starts in Singapore the mare has amassed S$36,742 in earnings. We expect to see her at the track again sometime in August as a 5yo.
Petite Voix is trained by Lee Freedman and owned by David Dawson, Yvonne Dawson, Robert Sim, Michael Toole-Stott, Graeme Blanche, Tim Charlton and Arexevan Racing.
