THRILLA LANDS BLOW FOR AREXEVAN

Thrilla In Manila scored another hard fought win in the $55,000 Class 4 1100m race to take his overall tally to 3 wins  from 13 starts and over $90,000 in prizemoney.

Joao Moreira rode a superb race aboard the Shovhog gelding to have him just behind the leaders after jumping from the outside barrier.Approaching the turn, Moreira began to urge the gelding forward and Thrilla in Manila dug deep to edge past Shinkasen (second) and the tiring That'stheone (third) in the run to the line. This was Joao's third ride on the horse with his record now 2 wins and a third placing on him.

Arexevan Racing' Singapore Manager David Dawson said the win was very satisfying in that a well thought out plan came to fruition. After the horses last run Cliff decided to freshen him up and his patience really did the trick. As for Joao Moreira, he rode the perfect race from an outside barrier and getting Joao onboard made the difference today.

L'HERITIER to race as STAR PROSPERITY for GOLD STAR STABLE
Written by David Dawson

L'Heritier, the most expensive yearling to be registered to race in Malaysia / Singapore will race in the MRA as STAR PROSPERITY under the GOLD STAR stable and has been alotted an initial rating of 50 in the Central Rating System.

The horse by Redoute's Choice out of Salameh was sold as a yearling for A$2,700,000 in Australia before going on to race in Australia as L'Heritier.

Salameh (by Secret Savings) was a Group 3 winning filly, having won the 1600 metre Fernhill Handicap at Randwick before being retired after only seven starts to broodmare duties.

L'Heritier had only 6 starts in Australia as a colt before being secured by Arexevan Racing and exported to Malaysia.

Arexevan Racing is always on the look out for well bred, tried 3yo's that may have a bit of maturing to do.

Graeme Blanche, Managing Director of Arexevan Racing said of L'Heritier, this bloke ticks the boxes in the sort of horse we were looking to try and place in Malaysia. He is a magnificent specimen that Darley Australia bought as a stallon prospect but who needed gelding to give him a chance to show his best on the racetrack. We had the operation done before sending him to Malaysia. If the operation can help to get his mind on the job and if he continues to mature throughout his 4yo year I think his new owners should have plenty of fun with him wherever they choose to race him in the MRA.

STAR PROSPERITY has transferred to Richard Lines in Kuala Lumpur and is expected to make his debut at the Selangor meeting in September.

THE THRILLA THRASHING

The Cliff Brown trained Thrilla In Manila recorded an emphatic win on the first night of the Singapore Turf Club's International Racing Festival.

Partnered by Singapore's leading rider Joao Moreira, Thrilla In Manila jumped straight to the lead from his inside barrier. Moreira then eased the horse as Swagger (R.Fradd) and Prince Pareto (Soo Keng Beng) battled each other for the lead. Moreira was able to sit on Swagger's tail all the way around the bend before accelerating through an inside run where he quickly put three lengths on the field.

Moreira kept Thrilla In Manila going to the line under strong hands and heels riding and finished 3.3 lengths in advance of Magic World (Leong Yoong Fei) with Kukai (K Tanaka) a further half length back in third. The time of 1:05.30 was very respectable for a Class 4 race.

When interviewed after the race by Michael Maxworthy, Cliff Brown suggested that getting the horse to relax in his races had been a positive thing and that the horse had done very well for the yard. In 6 starts for Cliff Brown, Thrilla In Manila has won twice and been placed on another occasion.

Arexevan Racing Singapore Manager, David Dawson was ecstatic after the race explaining that the win justified the belief that we had always had in the horse since co-owner Lyle Plumb identified him as a Singapore prospect at the 2008 "Magic Millions Breeze Up" sale. Dawson said that Cliff Brown and his team had done a great job with the horse and that his latest win was easily the best performance the horse had shown to date.

Thrilla In Manila is a lightly raced 4yo by the deceased sire Shovhog  has won 2 of his 10 starts for prize money of $60,975.

HINT STARTS 2010 WITH A WIN AT PERAK

The Arexevan Racing owned Hint scored an easy win on the first day of the Perak Turf Club's January meeting over 1600 metres at Ipoh.

After jumping from a wide barrier, Oscar Chavez had the Reset entire traveling nicely towards the rear of the field. On entering the straight Chavez positioned Hint for a run down the middle of the track and once clear, the horse quickly improved and looked a likely winner at the 300 metre mark. Out in the wide open spaces , Hint was inclined to lay inwards but the experience of Chavez showed through as he straightened Hint and had him running away from his rivals at the finish.

Trainer Richard Lines was happy that Hint was able to bring his good form on the training track to the races after being well beaten at his second run from a spell on a very soft track at Penang.

Punters were more then happy to dismiss the horses previous run as Hint opened at 5-1 on the Malaysian tote but heavy support saw him start a 2-1 favourite at the jump.

Hint will now transfer to Singapore. We'll look to start Hint in the later part of February after he has completed his quarantine in a 1400 metre event.

STYLISH WIN FOR THRILLA IN MANILA
Written by Graeme Blanche

Thrilla In Manila broke his maiden with an authorative all the way win in a 1000 metre Class 5 handicap on the polytrack.

In a night of firsts, champion Irish rider Fran Berry chalked up his first win in Singapore which was also Thrilla In Manila's first win and the first win for the Arexevan Racing - Cliff Brown combination.

Fran Berry was able to get the son of Shovhog to jump well from barrier two and he quickly found the lead. Berry was able to get the horse to settle well around the turn and when called upon for an effort in the straight, Thrilla In Manila was able to kick clear and held a margin of two lengths at the post.

The win came at Thrilla In Manila's second run for in-form trainer Cliff Brown.

With the win, Thrilla In Manila will rise to Class 4 company and will probably look to run in a Graduation race over the 1000 metres later in January.
